a wean-ling

For the past few weeks there has been this young moose calf hanging out in the willows along our road. We think she a new wean-ling. Probably from one of the pairs that were eating our hay all winter long.

When we go to drive by her, she hits the panic button and starts running down the road in front of us.
We wish that she would keep running down the road, instead of turning down our driveway.

She always goes through the same open gate, into the horse paddock, and jumps the barb wire fence back into the field that she was grazing on the edge of.

    1. They are very pleasurable to watch, except for when they are dining on your hay supply!

  2. Can you eat moose or is it too strong?

    1. Moose meat is good, but can be 'game-y' if it isn't prepared correctly. We haven't eaten it in a few years. The season for hunting moose is in the fall.
